Moving to Las Vegas: Jobless but Determined
Three weeks and counting… I’m moving to Las Vegas to live closer to my girlfriend. She and I had been close friends for years, but it wasn’t till my last semester in college that I finally mustered up the hootzpa and wherewithal to ask her to date me. She had a job coming out of school, while I came out with more questions than answers. Now, after a short internship and a temp job for the government, I’m taking my questions to Sin City.
My determination isn’t to move or get married and have the perfect life. I’m determined to live a life of connection with people. In Las Vegas, I’m starting with the connection to my girlfriend, but I don’t want it to end there. I want to figure out what it takes to connect with people who live in Nevada’s “world of perpetual lights.” What are the connecting points for building relationships with people living in a media saturated environment?
I also want to explore what it means to be in a Christian Community that appreciates the human body. Las Vegas is known for selling flesh of some sort on every corner and billboard. What does it mean to follow Christ “in the flesh” without “giving in to our flesh”?
