A Small Christmas Gift for Everyone…
There’s a new song on the Wanting Equilibrium MySpace page. It’s called Bethlehem. If songs had blurbs like books or movies do, this song’s blurb might go something like this:
In a weird way, Mary and Joseph must have thought they had it made out there in the barn that night Jesus was born. Sure, it must have been weird to have shepherds show up for a visit after bleeding all over the hay, but at least they were safe and gentle people (they would have to be to tend after animals known for their stupidity). Think about all the songs we sing about Christmas, how it was silent and holy. If the nativity was anything like the mental pictures paint of it, then things were peaceful and just as they should be… I imagine that if things really were silent and holy, that Eden-esqe picture was shattered by the time Herod killed the babies of the land.
